20% Project – Week 2

This week was full of accomplishments and a few struggles. Two of the accomplishments I had this week was that I was able to meet my goal of mapping 8 ships. The second achievement was that I found a better method as to finding where the shipwrecks were. I found a website called Shipwreck World and it had an interactive map of ships and all I had to do was click on a pin and see if the name matched one off my listed down ship names. If it did, I would place the tag in reference to where it was on the websites map. The struggle I had this week was that too many shipwrecks were near Tierra Del Fuego, otherwise known as The Land of Fire. The ships that were too close to Tierra Del Fuego were ARA General Belgrano and Duchess of Albany. Overall, this week was a productive week.

My Favorite Room

My favorite room of all time is in my uncles house. The room is hidden by a door that hides a secret entrance which is a reason I love this room. The door looks like a vertical rectangle but it has an arch on the top. It is built out of either dark oak or rich mahogany. The door has 4 or 5 shelves each one having a set of books and one of the shelves has one of his three Emmy awards. I don’t remember how to open the door since I haven’t been to this house in about a year. The door opens to a spiral staircase that leads down to a whole separate part of a house that includes a bedroom with a queen bed and two night tables on each side, kitchen with marble countertops and hanging lamps, a wood table with about 5 seats, and a half-bathroom. On the end-tables, there are wireless chargers and the TV remote for the 65 inch OLED TV facing the bed. This is my favorite room because it is like a hideaway where you could find inner peace. This is why this room is my favorite.

20% Project Week 1 – Starting to Map Shipwrecks

This starting week was filled with accomplishments and its fair share of struggles. For my project I chose to make shipwrecks around the world because as a young child I have always had a fascination with then water and anything that floats. I was able to map 4-6 ships but some of them I could not map because of the following reasons. First, they were too close to islands and the tags would cover up the land. Second, the tag would be too close to other tags so it would cover the other tag(s) up. Thirdly, the wreck would be in a lake so the tag would be too big for the lake and the label would cover up labels, islands, or parts of the mainland. I fixed this by deciding to not put the tags in that spot and cross them off the list so I would not confuse them with other ships I have not done to save progress. Next Friday, I will pick up with my current ships mapped and try to at least map 6 to 8 ships.

The Story of the Explorers

The year 565 AD. Saint Columba has just driven a monster back into the waters of Loch Ness in Scotland. Little did he know that this would spark the biggest mystery investigations known to man. The investigation of the Loch Ness Monster.

Fast forward to the year 2042, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has begun an investigation into the Loch Ness Monster. The captain, Andy McClintock, looked out of the casement and thought to himself, I am the 21st century Jacques Cousteau. He smiled smugly while thinking this. He was wearing his old Navy dress blues because it was his only nice piece of clothing. The first mate Harry Byron, a newly reformed Christian, came up to the captain and he said, “We are ready to launch. Awaiting orders.”

They launched and the launch went smoothly. As soon as they got out into the water, the monster attacked them. They were ready and then they captured the beast with weighted nets and ray guns. The capture of the beast gaining them mass popularity.

Rad Reading – March

This month I chose Gleanings by Neal Shusterman, the fourth and final book in the Arc of a Scythe series. The book is 423 pages long and is full of exciting suspense! The plot consists of many tales from inside the Scythedom. One tale is of Scythe Charles Fields. It starts with him seeing a beautiful dog and wanting to keep it as a pet. The dog turns out to be super smart and it takes over his house. While reading this book, I never expected what was coming next and people who like suspense, I would recommend this to them. My favorite quote is on page 378 and it states, “Oh great! Another dang new order scythe!” This is my favorite quote because of its sarcasm. My favorite character is Dayne I like him because of his quick thinking. A quote that shows this is on page 400 and I quote, “Did you really just save us from a scythe?” This shows that Dayne had enough thought to make a deal with a scythe in order to save he and his friend.

Dinner Invites

If I had to invite three people for dinner and they could be anyone, my top three would be considered unorthodox or unconventional. First, I would pick Bilbo Baggins from the Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit book series. The reason I would pick him is so I could hear about the tales of adventure from his life such as the tale of how he defeated Smaug the Terrible and helped the dwarves of Erebor reclaim their homeland from his talons. Next, I would pick Robert Oppenheimer so he could teach me about physics, science, and math. The reason I would ask him for this is because he is the father of the atomic bomb so if anyone knows anything about those things it’s got to be him. My last person would be Desiderius Erasmus. I would pick him so he could help my partner and I with my project on him and so he could give me a copy of his book, The Praise of Folly, in English.

Dream Job

To work for money at my dream job would be amazing! My dream job would be taking care of birds at the OC Rescue Center. They have kestrels, a bald eagle, and many more species of birds. The reason I chose this job is because of my love for birds. Birds have always been a topic of curiosity for me ever since I was young. My second reason is because that to be birds are graceful yet savage at the same time and its these qualities that also amazes me about these creatures. My third reason is because that I feel bad for the birds who have been hurt by cars, their siblings falling out of their nests, or humans. I feel bad for them and I want to help them and educate kids and adults about these magnificent creatures of the sky.

🫥

I woke up yesterday morning and I was invisible! I think I became invisible because of that hag that casted a spell on me. I thought it was all phony and blasphemy but turns out it wasn’t fake! The possibilities of what I can do are astronomical! First, I stole a car and because I was invisible the cops, who suck at their job already, could not find out who stole it. I planned to drive to about 5 miles from the White House and I walked to the south side of the fence and phased through it because it apparently came as a bonus side effect. I phased through the White House walls as well and I walked to the Oval Office. There I saw the big red button and I pressed it. The city I picked was Moscow, Russia. I launched it and the president walked in which caught me by surprise and I knocked over a vase. He saw it so I ran through him and ran to the car I stole earlier. I then drove home and decided to lay low so the Feds would not find me. That’s what happened when I was invisible.

Rad Reading – February

This month I chose The Thunderhead by Neal Shusterman for this month. The book is 504 pages long and takes place in a future where people have found a way to live forever and these select people called scythes, are trained to kill people in order to keep the population under control. Their ruler is today’s cloud but then it evolved and is now the Thunderhead.

The Thunderhead by Neal Shusterman is the second book in the Arc of a Scythe series. In a world where death is no longer a concern due to immortality, the Thunderhead—an all-powerful AI that governs humanity—keeps order. Scythes, chosen to control the population by “gleaning,” serve as the only means of death. As tensions rise between different factions of Scythes, the story follows Citra and Rowan as they struggle with their roles in a corrupt system, with the Thunderhead observing from above, yet bound by rules that prevent direct intervention. For my favorite quote I chose a quote said by Rowan Damisch who is also known as Scythe Lucifer. The trait is determined. The quote is as follows. “I do what I must, even when I don’t want to.” (Page number: 176) This quote showcases Rowan’s strong sense of duty and his resolve to carry out difficult tasks, even when they conflict with his personal feelings.

This book is amazing and it is filled with many plot twists, suspense, and drama. The book is very awesome. My favorite quote from the book is on page 349 and it states, “We have just entered the worst of all possible worlds.” This quote shows the dramatic nature of the book in one quote.

Abandoned Island Life

Life on my island that I have been calling home for so many moons now is tranquil and quiet. I landed here 40 moons ago and my memory is very foggy. The last thing I remember was a mighty storm with waves 40 feet high, striking fear into the hearts of even the bravest sailors. The waves swept me off the boat. I think the boat, which was called the Figaro and it was a true beauty with a mast 20 feet high and the length was about 55 feet I believe. I landed on a pebble covered beach on the south side of the island, which I later named Crow Beach due to the large numbers of crows around my body around the time of awakening. I walked around the island and found a small abandoned village that still had livestock, food, and the houses were upright. The village was situated in the plains part on the island on the west side. I picked a nice house and it was intact and the interior was still fringe with just a little cobwebs here and there. I quickly swept those down because of my fears of spiders and I was content. My daily routine consists of eating bread, eggs from my chickens, and water from the well. I wash my teeth with water to try to keep them clean which is followed by a walk to the north side of the island to my crop farm and harvest some grapes. Then I take a nap till afternoon and I sleep til dinner which consists of steak, corn, and bread. That is life on my island.
